Be a Light (A Personal Note to Self)
Wednesday, December 20th, 2006
Thinking of the past brings it right to the present moment. It’s like going through those events all over again. That can heal us or hurt us. If we keep thinking about past events with the same attitude and without having new thoughts about those events, then we are being stuck there. We are not letting go. How can a person move forward when they keep thinking about the past?
There comes a point when you have to stop rehashing what happened to you in the past. Find a way to heal yourself. Constantly reliving a hurtful past will not allow peace in your life.
Don’t allow those who abused you and abandoned you to have any more power over you. You are worthy of so much more than that. If they are out of your life, let them stay out. You are not obligated to see them or even to think about them.
Leave the past behind you now. It’s over. It’s time for you to shine right now. Just as you are. Learn from your past and shine your light on the world. One person at a time. That’s all it takes. Just one.
Don’t hide the love you have in your heart. It’s there to share. Share with everyone you encounter. Be the light for someone who is living in the dark. You know suffering. Help someone else who also knows. Be their guiding light. In anyway you possibly can.
This morning when I woke up, I once again had thoughts about the past abuse I suffered. the same thoughts kept repeating themselves over and over again. I got pretty tired of it. It was time for me to get up, but I didn’t want to get up still thinking about what had happened to me so many years ago. So I thought about what I could write about today. What could I say that may help someone else.
I didn’t really know, but focusing on that one thought got me up and in good spirits. I didn’t begin writing untill later this afternoon, and instead I read several inspirational articles. One of those articles was an excerpt from “Inspiration: Your Ultimate Calling” by Wayne Dyer: “Starting an Inspiration Practice”.
It’s a good way to begin every day “in-Spirit”.
How do you begin your day? Do you think you need to find a better way?
