Wakeup Call for My Muse

Monday, December 4th, 2006

Here it is 2:27p.m. and my muse is just waking up. I have been busy, but it’s taking me most of the day to get this site set up, which, by the way, I mainly did so that I could get a Wordpress.com API key for another blog, which isn’t yet ready worldwide consumption.

I wasn’t sure if I wanted a blog or just a username, but I decided to get the blog and make it my personal blog for any thoughts that I want to get out of my head and that I don’t mind sharing with whoever might come across it.

I say it’s a wakeup call because of Kathy Sierra’s article at Creating Passionate Users, “Don’t wait for the muse“. You see. I know what they say is true. Waiting for the muse is almost like waiting to win the lottery before you buy the ticket.

Some of my days definitely look like their illustration. Now half the day is gone and this is the first blog entry I’ve written all day. I need to update my Mae’s Muse blog. I’m sure I can find something around the web to write about.

Taking the brisk walk may get my creative juices flowing. I know it’ll get my blood circulating. Hopefully it won’t freeze.

At least my muse is fully awake now. Thanks Kathy Sierra. I needed that.

Kathy asked her readers to leave a comment and tell her what we use to help give our creativity a boost. There’s a few that I’ll mention.

  • Creativity Portal: This was the first web site that popped into my head. They have interesting and informative articles, fun activities for all ages, and what is called an Imagination Prompt Generator. For those times when you really do want to write but you’re just not sure what to write about. There is a lot more where that came from.
  • Creative Slush: I found this web site through Creativity Portal. Chris Dunmire is very imaginative and oh so witty. She has helped my creative juice flow many times. You really oughta try his creativity patch. It really works!;) The tea is pretty yummy, too. It’s good for creative brains.
  • Creating Passionate Users: They’re worth mentioning again. And they’re passionate about how the brain works.

These are just a few that I love. I’ll share more in other posts. If not here, then certainly on my other blogs which I will also write about in other posts. I kinda wanna keep those to myself for now. Not for privacy. It more for solitude. And I want to add more content to them as well.

I love synchronicity. I typed in “pop” in the address bar and when I clicked on popurls.com from the list (since I use that web site a lot – it’s another creativity booster and a procrastinator’s dream), but instead of taking me there, it took me to brainpop.com. They offer educational animated movies for children.
